A Great List of Survival Items For The Post Apocalypse
A Listmania! list by Jennifer Rodriguez Cabrera “psicat76″
It’s almost Christmas time. Will we get to celebrate or will it be the end of the world as we know it. Either way it’s nice to be prepared. Here is another list of affordable Survival Supplies for the Post Apocalypse
In the Post-Apocalypse we will more likely be traveling by foot than in a motor vehicle. When your food supplies get low you will need to venture into the wilderness to hunt for game and gather edible plants and vegetation. But in order to bring your resources back to your camp site or safe house you will need a nice Big pack to carry everything in. Backpacks with internal frames that can support all the extra weight.
Here are a couple backpacks that would definitely get the job done and can also carry a bunch of your survival items. Some even have bow/rifle holding compartments. ^__^
When you get ALPS OutdoorZ Commander Pack Bag, you’re getting the Commander Freighter Frame PLUS a 5250 cubic inch Pack Bag. The Pack Bag is great for getting all your gear to your base camp. The Pack Bag includes a front pocket, spotting scope pocket, rifle holder, and two side accessory hinged pockets, in addition to the main compartment. Once you empty out your Pack Bag, it can be easily detached so the Commander can be used as a Freighter Frame also. The Commander Freighter Frame allows you to haul your meat from one place to the next. The Commander comes equipped with a unique lashing system to secure your meat. With as much weight as you’ll be carrying, padded waist belt and shoulder straps are a must. There are pockets for your flash light and knife, as well as a holder for your shooting stix on the lashing straps. With the Commander Pack Bag, you really get two products in one, a Pack Bag AND a Freighter Frame!

The Teton Fox 75+10L internal frame backpack is a great fit for the serious hiker. Comfort-wise, the Fox is outfitted with dual aluminum stays that adjust to the shape of your back, along with contoured shoulder, lumbar, and hip pads. In addition, the height of the shoulder straps is adjustable, helping the pack accommodate a wide range of torso lengths. The upshot is a comfortable, ergonomic pack that won’t put undue stress on your back and shoulders even after a full day of hiking.
On the interior, the 5,187-cubic-inch pack holds all your gear in its top-loading main compartment, expandable front section, and unique sleeping bag compartment. Meanwhile, hikers looking for an easy place to access their first-aid kits and mini flashlights will delight in the pair of hideaway side pockets. The design concludes with an attached rain fly that keeps your gear dry and is compatible with separately sold hydration systems.

We hereby enter the world of “conventional” packs with some unconventional backpacks. Please understand, they’re only unconventional in the sense that they’re nicer, and more fully detailed than other packs in this class. It seems that most manufacturers have taken so many shortcuts in the trend toward minimalism that they have forgotten what it’s like to live out of a backpack. In the tradition of our focus on practical field use, we’ve built the 69 liter V69 Destroyer to be extremely capable and comfortable load bearing systems. With very similar features, the main difference between the two is one of scale. Choose the slightly more compact V69 if you need smaller capacity and prefer to go as light as possible. Something else you’ll like about these packs: For their scale, they’re extremely light weight. We’ve carefully chosen new materials that give the optimum balance between high strength and light weight, and arranged them very cleverly, if we do say so ourselves. Every feature and detail has a purpose, and many of them have multiple purposes. The V-type packs are double-deckers… with both top loading and front loading features, it’s easy to find your gear wherever in the pack you have it stowed. It also has the great benefit of a full array of compression and lash straps. Each surface of the pack can be compressed and each set of straps can be used to quickly grapple something to the pack. So you have a very simple and versatile, and ultimately practical backpack. Includes a fitted rain cover that pulls out of a bottom pocket.
